RE: Cheap Gas! $2.859 Yesterday

Yes, found a locally owned convenience store in east Austin, $2.87. Several others hovering around $3.00 and more than one holdout at $3.45.

Also try Customer One Financial. I belive her name was Cathy Guidy. Very simple process, by email and fax. We got a 3.9%, but that was then.

RE: Bounder DP noise

You shouldn't be surprised some sales people would pass the noise off as "normal".
If the noise is coming from underneath the coach near the front steps, it likely is the fan that forces air over the AC condensor coils. Could be a bad motor, especially since it is exposed to the weather and rain, etc.
Our coach does it, however definitely is not distracting.

RE: Creaking floor

Is the floor "soft" in places, or is it just squeeking? Also, you mentioned the noise was near an air vent. Could it be that the sub-floor is rubbing against the vent housing?

RE: How-to replace a vent hood cover?

The most difficult part will be getting everything you need in the way of tools on top of the fiver in one trip.
I'm am sure there are many brands of vents, a key point will be to match the new covers with the correct frames. Also, if you have the opportunity, invest in the UV resistant and more durable plastic vent covers as they were only a few bucks more.
First step is the remove the mechanical arm that allows you to open and close the vent cover from the inside. Open the vent before you get on the roof. Loosen and remove the screws that hold the arm to the vent cover. Once the arm is loose and away from the cover, over-extend the cover by carefully bring it completely over backwards. That will allow you to free it from the frame tabs that normally hold it in place.
To put the new cover on, just reverse the order of the steps.
Good luck.

RE: What will jumpstart the baby boomers into buying again.

Call me nuts, but I believe crude will drop to $100 within the next twelve months, the housing market will "correct" itself, the economy will follow.
We retire in two years. Will we / would we travel in the RV with diesel at $3.50? Yes. At $4.50? Yes again.
Do the math. Unless we travel 12,000 miles a year, the extra cost of fuel will not change our retirement planning.
JMHO, poor RV sales are a temporary mindset. The strongest RV manufacturers will survive.

Class A catches fire, burns to the frame, one man injured

Excerpts from the Austin newspaper re a Class A motorhome fire. My understanding is the victim tried to stick around to put the fire out. He was taken to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, a trauma center that serves Central Texas.
In a separate incident that occurred at about 8:10 this evening, a 34-year-old Georgetown man was seriously burned when the recreational vehicle he was driving caught fire. He was taken to Scott and White Hospital in Temple with serious burns on his upper body.
The incident happened on the northbound frontage road of the 130 tollway, just south of the intersection with Interstate 35. His 10-year-old son who was in the vehicle was not injured. Police report that the RV burned to the chassis, creating a large plume of smoke.
The Georgetown Fire Department reports that the fire likely started in the engine compartment, but the exact cause of the fire has not been determined.

My understanding is the deal is off and the developer went elsewhere. Definitely a nice family-oriented destination.

RE: Air horn fix

If you are getting a good supply of air to the horn, my guess is that the vibrating insert is damaged. It's located at the opposite end from the bell -- usually has a ring of screws holding the retainer plate in place.

RE: Alternator question

My personal opinion is if the alternater is 100 amps or more, you will have sufficient capacity for what you describe. Heavy duty would be nice, dual alternater would be over-kill.

RE: Training Small Yorkie???

Oh, let me jump in here!
We have two Yorkies, and yes they can be difficult. What we found most effective was patience and time -- Yorkies are going to do things at their own pace. Also, regular 'reminder' trips outdoors to do their business, followed with lots of 'praise' for a job well done.
Best of luck!

Tow Rav 5 Toyota four wheels down ???

Several folks insist the Toyota Rav 4 can be towed four wheels down. Has anyone here done this? I've not been able to confirm. The Toyota literature says electronic on-demand 4-wheel drive -- sounds promising.
